Taken in Kew Gardens. The stone lion (one of a pair) is not, as I assumed when saw it, a bit of C18th chinoiserie like the Pagoda. No, it’s actually Chinese. Though it is C18th.
It’s interesting how the pictures I end up posting aren’t always the ones that seemed most interesting when I took them. I thought I’d probably post one of the ones where it more obvious what the bird was standing on, and you could see more of the lion’s face. But I ended up picking this; I’d be hard-pressed to say why I like it, but that’s the decision.
