I saw the glass flowers at Harvard a few years ago, and stored the images in my mind. Then I read the Doty poem. Damn, someone got there before me again!
Perhaps you’ll have to write a poem about Mary Delaney’s cut paper flowers collages instead.
Thanks for the intro to Delaney. I especially like the delicate winter cherry. Just finished reading Spurling’s superb bio of Matisse who, of course, ended his career with paper cutouts. Unlike Delaney, he was not aiming for exact imitation. Perhaps a poem about both of them…hmmm…
On a tangent, how do you get the recent comments to appear on the sidebar of your blog? Can I do it on my blogger?
